1. Dimensions use familiar US units

Lengths are entered in feet, thicknesses and depths in inches, surfaces in square feet, and bulk volumes in cubic yards. When inches are mixed with feet, inches are divided by 12 before volume is calculated.

2. Net quantity comes first

The calculator finds the geometric amount before cuts, spill, uneven surfaces, compaction, application loss, or spare material. Separating this number makes the added allowance easy to see and change.

3. Allowance stays editable

There is no universal waste percentage. A simple rectangle and a patterned installation do not deserve the same assumption. Each tool starts with a planning value; the user is responsible for replacing it with a figure appropriate to the job.

4. Products are rounded last

Bags, cans, sheets, and boxes are whole purchase units, so package counts round up only after volume or area and allowance are known. Supplier quantities may follow different increments.
