Our purpose

A calculator is most useful when it explains the formula, exposes its assumptions, and makes uncertainty visible. Our tools pair live results with original field guides so a user can understand why the number changes—not just copy it.

Editorial process

Each calculator starts with standard dimensional math, labels every conversion and editable allowance, and rounds only where a real package requires it. Guides are reviewed for clarity, internal consistency, and whether they distinguish measurements from decisions governed by plans, manufacturers, suppliers, building codes, or qualified professionals.

Publisher and accountability

BuildMath Lab is published and maintained by the BuildMath Lab editorial team. The team's role is to document calculation logic, test rendered tools, verify cited primary sources, and state the boundary between arithmetic and a project decision. We do not claim trade, engineering, architectural, inspection, or code-enforcement credentials.

When a formula, source, date, or explanation is materially corrected, the affected page's evidence-review date and sitemap date are updated. Editorial changes do not silently convert national data into local prices, densities, yields, product coverage, or code requirements.
